Of Gardens and Spring

We had quite the thunderstorm last night. Really odd for this time of year, but spectacular. It poured rain as well, getting rid of most of our snow (we may thaw out before July yet!).

I snipped some fresh chives from my herb garden for our scrambled eggs this morning. Nice to be able to pick your own produce.

I hope to work on my book a bit today, after finishing my priorities. The bulk of my housework got done yesterday (though there is always laundry to do), which leaves me a bit more free time.

Oh! I have a cotton plant that is blooming! I got some seeds a while back and they have been growing all winter in the sunniest spot in the house. This morning, I have my first bloom. It looks rather like a hibiscus flower in  a light pink/orange. Pretty soon, I will be picking my own bolls of cotton :)
