I wanted to write a new post but was uncertain what I should write about: the kids and hubby sliding down a large snow hill, out of control, in a canoe, heading for the river? the kids canoeing in the LARGE mud puddle in the back field? the rhubarb that is peeking up out of the dirt? the pheasant eating from my bird feeder?
Choices, choices!
Unfortunately, our camera is broken, so no pics of these spectacular events (everyone survived with no injuries).
Monday morning was pretty typical here. Lots of laundry and chores. I did, however, stir up the home education a bit by cancelling all regular work and doing a concentrated dose of geography, science, hands on math and language arts, and even threw in a bit of art. I unexpectedly had to deal with some whining (I actually thought they would be thrilled, but one does not like drawing all that much).
Left on my order of the day is to work out, sweep floors, make supper (roast beef already in the oven), and, if I have time, to work on my book.
I am almost done. I can feel the anticipation. I have some side plots to tie off, a story climax to write, and a bit of editing on the last half of the book....and its over. The the second book, Flier of Arianas!
I've discovered I like the challenge of honing my manuscript into a finely polished gem. I like the results, although my eyes often bug out of my head by the time I'm done in the evening.
The next thing I'm contemplating is this: Do my characters have dialogue of their own that sets them apart, or can readers interchange them. That's a tough one, because you don't necessarily want a different accent for each one of them, just a different style. Tricky.
