Rebels

Since I've finished writing by book, Rebel of Castuenda, my husband has been reading it. He pointed out, and rightly so, that my main character is rebellious, disdains her father and authority, and the father is made to look the fool. All typical plots of our day and age and may be negatively influential on my readers.

Ouch.

Now what to do. Option one is to rewrite the part of the plot. I have come up with an awesome alternative that would work and actually makes for a more unique story. The problem is that the main character is what I was like. It is my "life story"...sort of. Hard to change that.

Option two is to show the before (rebellious) and the after in the first book. I meant to show the after in book 2 of the series, but my husband pointed out that some readers may not read book 2 and may be improperly influenced anyhow.

Arrgh.

He has asked me to postpone any decisions until he has had the opportunity to read the entire thing.(hopefully he reads it before the summer is out). :)
